Welcome!
We want to thank you for visiting Orthodontic Arts, and we are excited to get to know you. Our goal is to deliver an exceptional patient care experience that will exceed your expectations.

How do you get started?
The first step is to call our office at 434-385-4499 to schedule a complimentary exam and evaluation. Prior to coming to your initial visit, please click on the appropriate Patient Information Form below to download, complete, and print from your own computer. (These are Word forms that you can easily tab through to type in the blanks.)

Please bring the completed form with you to the initial exam appointment. By completing the form before you arrive, we will be able to begin your visit without delay. If you have insurance coverage, please bring your insurance card as well. Prior to your appointment, contact your insurance company or read your policy to answer the following questions:

  • Do I have orthodontic coverage (and is there an age limit)?
  • What are my benefits?
  • Is a pre-treatment estimate required or will they pay automatically?
  • Will the insurance company pay the office directly if we file on your behalf?

Your first visit will give us the opportunity to get to know each other. You will have a chance to have your questions answered and share your concerns with us. We will conduct a comprehensive examination and recommend if or when orthodontic treatment is necessary. We will also discuss the costs of the various treatment plans as well as payment options that will be available to you.

We use digital photography, digital video technology, and three-dimensional computer modeling to help diagnose the types of orthodontic problems you may have. We also use computer and visual aids to help you understand what different orthodontic appliances look like and how they work to correct problems of the teeth and jaws. We know that the number of solutions to various orthodontic problems can be overwhelming. It is our goal to help our patients understand what treatment choices they have and to give them enough information to make a well informed decision. Rather than dictating what treatment must be done, we hope to have each family make a comfortable choice as to which treatment plan best fits their particular needs and desires.

What happens next?
We take diagnostic records on each patient consisting of photographs, a 3-D CT scan, and stone study models when necessary. These records allow us to evaluate the health and function of the teeth and supporting tissues as well as the esthetics of the smile. These records help us to form detailed treatment plans.

Any type of orthodontic treatment will require regular visits to monitor progress and make adjustments. Depending on the types of appliances used, your visits may be spaced anywhere from 3 to 10 weeks apart. Retention of the final result is an important part of any orthodontic treatment. Retainers will be fabricated and monitored to ensure a lifelong beautiful smile. Clear, colored, and permanent retainers are all available options.
